Under Tuscan Skies - a scenic foodie tour

Spend the morning visiting one of Carlo's favourite towns, Montepulciano, home to the exceptional red wine, Nobile di Montepulciano. Walk to the town square and then stroll through the streets and browse shops selling artwork, wine and delicious food. Explore an underground cellar and taste some local wine.

We then move on to Monticchiello, a tiny medieval town with fewer than 200 residents. Enjoy a sumptuous lunch with local wine included.

Drive through the rolling hills to Pienza, one of the neatest villages you will ever see. Pienza is famous for cheeses and the aroma and spectacle of these shops, packed with a variety of cheeses, is so irresistible so we suggest you buy some to take home.

Umbrian Gems - Italy's best kept secrets

This tour is a step back in time to some of Italy's best kept secrets.

Civita di Bagnoregio is a village only accessible by a foot bridge across a valley, and requires a reasonable level of fitness. Until recently only 9 people lived in the village which had been cut off following an earthquake.

You will enjoy a typical Umbrian lunch of a big selection of bruschetta all cooked in front of you on the open fire, followed by Italian sausages, baked potatoes and salad, served with local wine at the Trattoria in the centre of town.

We also visit the nearby underground city of Orvieto which was built in the 8th or 9th century BC into the mountain of rock dust formed following a volcanic eruption at Lake Bolsena. We have organised a 1 hour tour of the underground city which is a highlight. Following this you have free time to visit the excellent museum, shops, art or the impressive Duomo.
